Meet Laura

My name is Laura Bartlett and I am a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, with a strong academic and professional background in psychology and evidence-based therapy. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London, alongside a Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy and a Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma.

I am a registered member of the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH), fully insured, and hold an enhanced DBS certificate — so you can be confident you are working with a qualified, professional, and ethical practitioner.

Before retraining as a therapist, I spent 20 years working in the London corporate world as an insurance broker. With an Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) and a Level 3 Diploma in Management and Leadership, my approach is practical, grounded, and evidence-informed.

How I Can Help You

Confidence / Performance

Deep relaxation (hypnosis) is used to access the subconscious for positive change, visualising successful futures, and identifying small, achievable steps to build self-efficacy and confidence.

Addiction / Bad Habits

Solution focused hypnotherapy helps stop unwanted behaviours, not by demanding more conscious effort, but by changing the underlying thought patterns, emotional responses, and brain chemistry that make willpower alone difficult to sustain.

Health / Pain Management

Solution focused hypnotherapy uses hypnosis for deep relaxation and positive suggestion, guiding the brain to find inner resources for health anxiety and pain management.

Stress / Anxiety

Hypnosis helps modulate the brain regions (like the amygdala) involved in emotion processing, leading to better emotional control. By improving sleep, reducing stress & anxiety, and reframing thoughts, solution focused hypnotherapy helps you gain control.

Grief / Trauma

Hypnotherapy helps with trauma by focusing on the present and future, guiding clients to build resilience and find solutions without re-traumatising through revisiting past painful memories. Focus is on positive changes and practical steps forward rather than dwelling on the traumatic event itself.

Fears / Phobias

Hypnotherapy helps with fears and phobias by using deep relaxation (hypnosis) to calm the primitive brain. This allows the conscious mind to reframe negative patterns, replacing fear with calm, positive responses through techniques like Rewind and Reframe.

Intrusive Thoughts / OCD

Intrusive or repetitive thoughts can feel distressing and difficult to control, even when you recognise they are irrational or unwanted. Hypnotherapy helps calm the stress response linked to intrusive thinking.

Low Mood / Depression

Periods of low mood, reduced motivation, or emotional numbness can develop gradually, often alongside long-term stress or life changes. Hypnotherapy can help lift emotional heaviness by promoting positive future focus, improving sleep, and restoring a sense of hope and momentum.

Weight Management / Relationship with Food

Weight concerns are rarely just about willpower. Stress, emotional eating, habits, and subconscious associations with food all play a role. Hypnotherapy supports healthier habits by addressing emotional triggers, increasing self-awareness.

Fertility

Trying to get pregnant can be a stressful time. Your mind and body need to be in the best condition to create and grow another human being. Our hypnotherapy programme can help you to reduce stress and improve your chances of fertility success.

Menopause

Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can affect mood, confidence, sleep, and stress levels, often at a time when life already feels demanding. Hypnotherapy can support emotional regulation, stress reduction, and confidence during this transition.

Sleep / Insomnia

Difficulty switching off at night is one of the most common issues I see. A busy mind, stress, or persistent worry can make it hard to fall asleep. Hypnotherapy helps guide the brain into a calmer, more relaxed state, making it easier to let go of racing thoughts and improve sleep quality.
